Fatip. To each his head
The razors are recognizable for the particular "open-comb" original head that guarantees a perfect and deep shave for every type of beard.
Today, the Fatip razor is also equipped with the "closed-combed" Gentile Head version, for a delicate and easy shave.

Open comb head (open comb).
The Original The Open Comb Head was introduced at the beginning of the 900 on the first safety razors, with the aim of making shaving the ample whiskers and whiskers that were fashionable at the time.
The Fatip razor is known for the head with 11 comb thin teeth and for this reason we called it: the Original.
The comb head is open to the bottom because the skin tends less and the hair, slipping between the "teeth" of the comb, is closer to the blade. The razor should be placed on the face not by pressing, but sliding it.
The Original guarantees a deep and accurate shave for all types of beards (close shave), ideal for those with hard and thick hair. We recommend using a softer blade (mild) among those on the market, combined with a good oil or pre-shaving cream that prepares the skin, facilitates sliding and softens the coat.

Head with closed comb (closed comb). La Gentile
The Fatip Gentile head features the characteristic closed bar and is equipped with slightly larger teeth 9
compared to those of the Original head. In the case of the Gentile head, the hair is combed and the bar tends the skin, but prevents the blades from sinking too much. Shaving is less aggressive and easier.
La Gentile is indicated for a daily shaving and for sensitive skin. Also recommended for newcomers to the safety razor.
Given the lesser aggression, it may require in certain areas of the face, more passages or greater pressure, but it always manages to guarantee a splendid and safe shaving. The user can also experiment with more or less sharp blades according to his needs.

INDICATIONS
The Fatip razor is suitable for all skin types, especially for those who love deep shaving.
TIPS
Use a quality pre-shave product, cream or shaving foam.
TIPS
A warm softener shower before shaving to reduce the chances of abrasion or small cuts.

Great razor but some box and razor cosmetic damage

Order processed, shipped and was received in a few days. Box packed well with ship list.

I really want to give 5 stars but can't. For shipping there were several products ordered and this was the only one showing damage. The razor box both inside and out was scuffed on several sides and the hole holding the razor in place was slightly tearing on both sides. Cosmetic sure but disappointed in the far from pristine packaging since the description of fatip says pass this down to generations but damaged box. Its cosmetic and doesnt hurt anything.

The individual razor box was nicely constructed. Coworker designs our hundreds of company product boxes and we examined and disassembled the glueless box. The box design gives a lot of information with minimal words. The color of the belly band tells you the product color and angled or parallel for slant or straight bar and graphic of the head showing open or closed comb and mini image of the razor. Tells you exactly which model it is. Well thought out. We didn't love how the blade looks just held in by 1 long hold for the head to sit in looking unsecured. Actually with lid closed the razor does not rattle or move around.

Onto the razor. See image. I noticed a few weeks after regular use this black spot like the finish had flaked off. You can see it on the base plate where the threads pass through the hole. Like the box it's not effecting function and when the head is screwed on its impossible to see as it would be covered by threads and on the inside. I didnt drop it. I wo wonder if somehow assembling the threads knicked the inside pulling plating off
sadly the allbrass razor has a black undercoat. One reason i chose this razor was all brass and golden not gold at no additional cost. So thst if like my 2 vintage gilletts after decades if use the plating wore through it woukd show brass through the golden and hopefully be much less noticeable. But i was sad it was blavk which shows up highly against golden. Everything else on the razors finish looks good.

OK OK. Onto good stuff.

This is my first slant. I've used it with 3-4 astra green blades. Love the look. The unique but very functional handle was a selling point. It's very comfortable and being convex twist doesn't trap dirt. I have 4 razors. This, a gillette 1958 flate tip, gillette 1963 slim fat boy adjustable and a qshave parthenon v2. The flare tip is very simular is total height and weight and balance point and performs very similar. The flare has deep straight cut grooves on the end flare that trap both dirt and light making it always trap shadow and look dirty and if you hold end to tight it will hurt. This fatip has none of that. It's comfortable and looks great. I like my flare tip as a mild razor that agile and light but the fatip just beats it. Yes the flare is a twist to open. Compared to the slim adjustable I'd rank the flare aggressiveness as a 2-3 and the fatip as 3-4. Just a bit more with the slant and aggressive style of teeth. But it's smooth and comfortable. Using astra green so far and great. Highly recommend for mild slant

Artisan shaving tool

I love the Fatip Lostorto shave. I rotate this with a Mercury 37c. With the right blades you can get an artisan shave with no tugs, bumps or cuts in 2 to 2.5 passes. Currently using Bolzano, Perma and wizamet Irridium blades. I have a medium beard, sensitive skin and shave daily. I’m sold on slant bar razors and I look forward to shaving with finely crafted razor.
