Sidama X opens with rum absolute, creamy apricot, mixed berries and soft coffee. The heart features dark chocolate, chili pepper, iris and Tropicalone. The base settles into coffeewood, sustainable vetiver, Orcanox, Evee, patchouli and benzoin.
A Word from the Manufacturer
When the original Sidama fragrance was completed, its unique portrayal of natural process Ethiopian coffee impressed us with its complexity and sense of place. It delivered the grassy and earthy tones of the growing region with a boozy richness that felt distinctive and expressive. It was even named an independent category finalist in the 2023 Art and Olfaction Awards.
One thought lingered at the time: we wanted to create a chocolate forward semi gourmand version. Inspired by the history of xocolatl, the ancient Aztec drinking chocolate made from fermented sun dried cacao beans blended with spices like chili pepper or cinnamon, we explored the cultural and aromatic richness of this tradition.
In Sidama X, the coffee elements are dialed back while the boozy character is elevated. The fragrance centers on decadent semi sweet dark chocolate accented with chili pepper for warmth and intrigue. Instead of vanilla, resinous woody benzoin was chosen to maintain continuity with the original. The result is decadent, spicy, woody and slightly boozy, sweeter than the original but balanced by its earthy and resinous tones. A modern tribute to ancient chocolate, crafted to be savored.
Directions for Use
Wet your shaving brush thoroughly. Load the brush on the soap for about 30 seconds or until a rich creamy lather begins to form. Build lather on your face or in a bowl, adding water slowly until you achieve a dense low structure foam. Apply to the skin and shave with light pressure. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your preferred aftershave.
