A Word from the Maker

Philipp Klar started with soap boiling in 1840. As a journeyman, his path took him all the way to St. Petersburg on the quest to perfecting his trade. He returned as a master soap boiler and opened a workshop in Heidelberg. Thus, the foundation was laid for the soap tradition the family still maintains today.

After the turn of the century, his son Theobald Klar succeeded in expanding the existing business during the industrialization and establishing the company in southern Germany. His joy in experimenting and his innovative spirit led to the creation of many recipes which are still used today to make a variety of fine and functional soaps.
